The Steering Committee for the Test Of Proficiency-Huayu (SC-TOP) was established in November 2005 under the direction of the Ministry of Education of Taiwan. The committee aims to develop and promote an effective Chinese assessment system, mainly the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL), for Chinese learners worldwide to assess their Chinese proficiency.

Chinese students of our center enjoy 10% off on the registration fee for 2 formal tests: Listening and Reading. You get 20% off for taking 3 skills tests. To get the 10% discount code, follow the steps below:

  1. Register as a member of TOCFL with your passport number on the TOCFL website. After that, inform the office on this form.
  2.  During office hours, the staff will assign a discount code to your passport number.
  3. Log in to TOCFL again, complete the form as to which date, time, and place you want to take the test.
  4. At the final step, you will see the discount code. Print the payment notice to paper or export it as a PDF file to your smartphone.
  5. With the payment notice, pay it at any convenience store within 3 days to complete the registration. Failing to pay within 3 days of registration, your application will be canceled and you will need to go through the process again.

  1. Foreign students who come to Taiwan to study Chinese, have studied for six months or longer, and hold an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) with Chinese learning purpose (FR) may submit an online application via the Workforce Development Agency EZ Work Permit website.

  2. With a valid work permit, the maximum working hours are 20 hours per week.

Important Notes

  • All work permits issued by the Ministry of Labor have a specified validity period. Please be sure to reapply before the permit expires to maintain your eligibility to work.

Library

With the advanced functionality of the latest digital technology, the Soochow University Library offers significant facilities for reading and research. It's based on the Waishuanghsi campus and has a branch on the Downtown campus.

Ward Memorial Methodist Church

The Chaplain's Office also provides guidance and counseling services for all spiritual needs and pastoral care; also arranges a variety of groups and activities for faculty, staff, and students, including Bible study groups, student fellowships, choir, seminars on theology and faith, workshops on Christian leadership and discipleship.

Art Center

Arts Center is located on both Waishuanghsi and Downtown Campuses. It includes an art exhibition hall, the 471-seat Performing Arts Center is used for recitals and concerts, etc. Program guides for the events and exhibitions are updated on the website every month.

Arenas and Gyms

Physical Education Center offers a substance-free environment for students to actively participate in keeping physically fit, learning new skill sets, and reducing stress through reactions on and off campus. Access to all the sports equipment, fields, and gyms on-campus are free for students during the open times.

College Dining Hall and convenience store are located on the main floor and first basement of the Grand Complex. Students can choose from a wide variety of dining experiences in a casual setting that is also the hub of relaxed social interaction on campus.

Wireless Internet

In addition to providing network resources through the Computer Center, both campuses of our school have set up wireless network access points on campus. Within the area marked with this mark , wireless Internet tools that comply with the WI-FI standard, such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones, can be used. Users can authenticate with the account and password provided by the computer center to enjoy unlimited Internet access. There is a Post Office on Waishuanghsi campus that offers a full range of banking services to studetns. If studetns want to open an account, please arrange the following documents for application.

● The certification of enrollment (provided by Chinese Language Center)
● ARC or an "Identity Number" ( given from NATIONAL IMMIGRATION AGENCY)

There are several other banks near Shinlin District as below provided banking services. Recommend having your debit card or credit card with205325294 or images1for drawing cash when staying in Taiwan. (To enable you to operate overseas cash withdraql, please activate the overseas ATM withdrawl function in your country, and have your PIN for use.)

Note: Opening an account is more difficult. Students must wait until they hold an ARC (Aliens Resident Certification)
